Ali
GCSE English Specialist Tutor
Meet Ali, our GCSE English specialist tutor, with over 20 years’ experience teaching English and drama.
Ali is an experienced English teacher with over 20 years of experience teaching English and drama, both in the UK and in Australia. Most recently, she led the GCSE English Language programme at Yeovil College for more than five years.
She has worked with students with SEND and with home-educated learners for many years, and is especially experienced in supporting neurodivergent students.
Ali’s lessons are creative but well structured. She often uses film and visual comparisons to help ideas like structure and language analysis make sense, and builds in regular recaps so knowledge really sticks.
Fully Qualified Teacher
Ali holds a PGCE from the University of Exeter and received the Ted Wragg Award for Most Inspiring Teacher. She has an Enhanced DBS check.
GCSE English
Helping students build confidence and achieve the grades they’re working towards in GCSE English Language and Literature.
Functional Skills English
Supporting learners working towards Functional Skills English at Levels 1 and 2, including home-educated students and adult learners.

Ali has a background in drama and has taught Theatre Studies to A level, so she brings plenty of creativity and energy to her lessons.
She believes students learn best when they feel comfortable and understood, and she adapts each lesson to how the student is getting on.
Ali provides all resources and tailors every lesson to the individual, helping students feel more confident with English as well as make real progress.
