It’s a very busy time right now - 📚 exam season is in full swing, and demand for tutoring has been higher than ever.

I could easily spend every hour at my desk 💻 teaching and prepping… but I’ve been making a conscious effort to take regular breaks and enjoy the sunshine. ☀️

To support our students, �we’re running Exam Eve Sessions� the night before each of the upcoming English and Maths GCSEs. These are focused, supportive revision sessions designed to boost confidence, review key content, and ease last-minute nerves.

I didn’t quite hit my time goal (the heat + a stubborn cough didn’t help!), but I’m honestly SO proud. Not long ago, running even 5km felt impossible… and now I’ve completed a full marathon! 🙌

📚 Fiona is an experienced maths educator with 17 years of teaching across Key Stages 2 to 5. With a 🎓 BSc (Hons) in Management Sciences from Loughborough University and a PGCE in Secondary Mathematics from the University of Exeter, Fiona has held senior roles, including Head of Maths and Acting Headteacher, in both UK and international schools. She brings her wealth of experience to her tutoring sessions, making maths accessible and enjoyable for students of all abilities.

🏃‍♀️ Beyond the classroom, Fiona is a keen runner, having completed the London Marathon, eight half-marathons, and even a 50km ultra-trail marathon! She’s also the co-founder of the Heavy Leg Society, a local running club that’s all about community, coffee, and croissants! 🥐

🎉 This week has been full of excitement and progress at Tutoring with Portia!

We’ve been celebrating student birthdays 🎂 while also making huge strides in our lessons! Here’s a little peek into what we’ve been up to recently:

💡 Confidence Boosting for Year 7 & 8: We always start off our group sessions with a fun flashback activity, where students revise 4 key questions from topics we’ve covered over the past few months. This helps to solidify their knowledge and keep everything fresh in their minds! 🔄

📐 GCSE Maths Booster: Our Year 11 students have been diving deep into trigonometry, focusing on finding missing angles in right-angled triangles. These skills are crucial for their upcoming exams, and the progress has been fantastic! 🏆

I am looking forward to continued growth, confidence, and success in the weeks ahead! 💪
