More About Paul
After completing my A Levels in English Literature and Sociology in 1992, I began my degree in English at Swansea University in 1995. I completed my degree in Wrexham in 1998 before taking on a variety of roles before embarking on my teaching career in 2002, where I began studying for my PGCE in Secondary English at Manchester University.
Following this, in 2003 I began my teaching career in a large secondary school in North Wales, where I was also Head of Media Studies. After just over 10 years, I took the opportunity to explore online teaching with a pioneering start up company and remained there until my return to the classroom. During 2020, I decided to return to online teaching as an online English tutor.
I have vast experience of all the exam boards through my online teaching experience and I am also an English GCSE examiner. My approach to teaching is relaxed, yet purposeful, and I focus on giving learners plenty of time to develop the skills needed and for them to ask questions. I also focus on assessment for learning, ensuring that each pupil I teach knows exactly what we are doing and why we are doing it. Outside of teaching I enjoy spending time with my wife and four daughters, I love reading, music, films, playing tennis and following my local football team.
